ARF Shelter Construction Updates

7/15/26 - The Ground is Flat

The ARF construction team made up of Ed Hale, Henry Kaufman and Terri Tackett, met with our general contractor, Morris Arnzen, this week to discuss how far we are in the site preparation and next steps. Monday, July 20, the ARF construction team will be meeting with the contractor at the site to stake out where the building will be located.

At our meeting this week, there were minor changes to the floor plan and  Morris told us the probable schedule of work for the summer. The concrete work will likely start in August. The first item will be setting in the foundation. Then before the floor can be poured. There are a few complicated plumbing tasks to do related to all drains in the building and around the building that will cause the floor to take longer to pour than a floor for a simple building. In addtion there is heated flooring in the dog kennel area that will be done when the floor is poured.

Between now and the start of concrete work, the location where the building is sited needs to be dug out along with more work on elevations around the building.

6/25/26 Groundwork Excavation started site prep

Josh Lillie, owner of Groundwork Excavation, started prepping the site for building on June 25. ARF is super excited to follow the progress his crew is making. Of course the rain lately has not helped. Depending on weather, Josh believes he will have much of the leveling and filling completed mid July.
